Recognition for Suffolk’s community pharmacies

Suffolk’s community pharmacy teams were again recognised for the support they provide to their local communities in an awards ceremony held in Ipswich on Wednesday January 23.

In its second year, the Suffolk Community Pharmacy Awards event was held to celebrate the outstanding work of both pharmacy teams and individuals in supporting wellbeing in Suffolk. It was attended by over 100 pharmacy staff, representatives of community service providers and VIP guests.

In total, 18 awards and 8 Highly commended awards were presented to pharmacy teams and individuals from community pharmacies across the county, in recognition of their achievements over the last year.

Myra Battle, Event lead and Service Support Officer for Suffolk LPC said:

“Suffolk LPC would like to thank all those who attended the awards. It was a great night, supported by many community pharmacy teams and local services. Special thanks to our local councillors, service providers and pharmacy professionals who presented awards and for their support throughout the year.

“And finally, a huge thank you to the hardworking staff in Suffolk Pharmacies for supporting the LPC and their local communities throughout the year. On the night we celebrated just a few of the amazing moments experienced by community pharmacy teams, but I know there are so many more to celebrate.”

Michael Holden, Principle Associate at Pharmacy complete and one of the primary drivers behind the Healthy Living Pharmacy concept said:

“Inspiring to see the brilliant work being undertaken by pharmacy teams across Suffolk at the LPC awards and feel the passion for improving the health and wellbeing of people in the communities they serve. We need to bottle it and sell it to local and national health and public health commissioners! The HLP model is now 10 years on, from acorns do such great oaks grow.”

Cllr James Reeder, Suffolk County Council’s Cabinet Member for Health said:

“The local pharmacy awards evening was a resounding success, celebrating the achievements of Suffolk’s hard-working pharmacy teams. I was delighted to be able to be part of the evening and would like to take the opportunity to thank our local pharmacists and supporting staff for everything they do, and the crucial service they provide to residents.”

Cllr Steve Gallant, Suffolk Coastal District Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Health said:

“It was a real pleasure to be invited to the Suffolk Community Pharmacy awards night. It highlighted the great work that is being done across the County to improve the wellbeing of local residents.

The work that is done not only benefits the individuals taking up the service but also frees up valuable GP and A&E appointments. I would encourage everyone to visit their local community pharmacy to better understand the range of services that they can offer”

Helena Beer Acting Editor of Training Matters magazine said:

“It was a genuine pleasure to celebrate the inspirational work that pharmacy teams in Suffolk do on a daily basis. Congratulations on a lovely event – bring on next year!”
